Polypropylene (PP) is a semi crystalline thermoplastic polymer made by adding propylene monomer through polymerization reaction. Its chemical formula is (C3H6) n , and its density is 0.89-0.92 g/cm 3 , making it the thermoplastic resin with the smallest density.
It has a melting point range of 164~176 ℃, and an operating temperature range of -30~140 ℃. Polypropylene exhibits characteristics such as light weight, wear resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance.
It is a white waxy solid, non-toxic and odorless, with a transparent appearance and lightweight texture. It offers excellent fatigue resistance, making it suitable for applications involving repeated bending or twisting. The material has a water absorption rate of only 0.01% and exhibits excellent water stability.
It is resistant to acid, alkali, alcohol, and other corrosive substances, although it has weak tolerance to aromatic solvents such as benzene. The material possesses good biocompatibility and meets medical material safety standards.
It can be shaped through extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, and other processes. The material has a shrinkage rate of 1.8% to 2.5% (which can be reduced to 0.7% by adding glass fiber). It is easy to dye, but caution must be exercised to prevent the potential precipitation of small molecule substances at high temperatures.
